Hello everyone,
I found this bronze object while detecting in an old pasture near what used to be a medieval trade route. It was about 15 cm (6 inches) deep in compact soil and appears to have a small swivel loop attached to one end.
The object measures approximately:
- Length: 42 mm
- Width: 18 mm
- Weight: 27 g
- Material: Bronze (possibly)
There are no visible markings or inscriptions, but one side seems slightly decorated. The patina looks natural and untouched.
Could this be a Roman fitting, a medieval strap connector, or something completely different?
I'd appreciate any opinions or references from members who have found similar items.

Hello everyone,
I found this bronze object while metal detecting in an old pasture that has a long history of farming and nearby historical activity. It was recovered at approximately 15 cm (6 inches) below the surface.
Details
- Material: Bronze (possibly)
- Length: 42 mm
- Width: 18 mm
- Weight: 27 g
- Condition: Natural green patina, no cleaning performed
The object has a small swivel loop attached to one end and some faint decorative lines, but I can't identify its original purpose.
Could this be part of horse tack, a belt fitting, or perhaps something from the Roman or medieval period?
I'd really appreciate any opinions, references, or similar finds from other members.
